Ivory Bar and building is owned by the Beulink Family, who have lived in the Waimakariri District for 20 years. The heritage-listed Northern A and P Society Building at 93 Ivory Street (the building), has been owned by the family for 16 years, and was purchased specifically because of its unique architecture and heritage status. 

Dr Robert Beulink and Ruth Beulink have 2 other heritage buildings and fell in love with the building at first sight. "It was rather shabby and neglected" says Robert. "It had been more or less abandoned. However we immediately fell in love with the building and realised it's significance and potential".

The building was leased out as an Indian restaurant until the Canterbury Earthquakes of 2010 forced its shut down due to damage and resultant safety concerns. However, unlike the outcome for most of Canterbury's heritage-listed buildings, the Beulink's were reluctant to demolish 93 Ivory Street, and instead undertook an extensive and costly restrengthening, restoration, and refurbishment programme.

Under the legal guidance of their son Campbell, and the vision and architectural guidance of their son Elliot, a three year journey to resurrect the building was undertaken, resulting in what is arguably now one of Canterbury's premier heritage buildings, and an iconic jewel situated in the heart of Rangiora township.



Ivory Bar is run by General Manager Campbell Beulink. Campbell has worked in the Hospitality sector for several years, helping to pay his way while studying Law and Commerce at the University of Otago. Campbell is here to ensure everything at Ivory Bar runs smoothly, and ensure your experience is a memorable one.

Ivory Bar staff are a young, dedicated and energised part of our team, whose prime mission is to cater to your needs. With many years experience in the hospitality sector, Connor is our resident Mixologist, and runs and coordinates our bar. He heads a team who pride themselves as experts at pouring drinks, both alcoholic and nonalcoholic, from cocktails to coffees. Our Maitre-D Courtney, has previously headed numerous high end restaurants, and will ensure your dining experience at Ivory will be a pleasurable one. It is commented that the friendly banter and chat makes guests feel relaxed and welcomed. Just ask and they'll do their best to oblige, ensuring your time at Ivory Bar is a taste and drink sensation.


The Ivory Bar kitchen staff consists of a very talented team that work together to create some exceptionally tasty delights. Our head chef, Dave, has extensive experience in preparing quality dishes and is always coming up with new and exciting taste combinations to try and love. Together with the rest of the kitchen staff, Ivory Bar prides itself on presenting quality food that everyone can enjoy. Even the pickiest of eaters will find something that they love on the menu.
